The future of Safe Grad Is still uncertain but we’re certainly optimistic! With the addition of five new committee members (Thank You!), the team is working hard to salvage a very at-risk tradition of providing a safe celebratory evening for our graduating seniors. The Class of 2017 will be conducting a survey of all current SHS seniors regarding the event to gauge interest and event preferences. Once those results are received, we’ll have better direction. In the meantime, we’re off and running with our first round of fundraisers:
• Bottle Drives – the first will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 9:00 – 12:00 at Suffield Middle School. Students – this is a great opportunity for needed community service hours. Please sign up in the SHS Main Office and plan on attending from 8:30 – 12:30. The next drive is tentatively planned for Jan. 7 with additional dates to be announced.
• Pie Sale – look for order forms to be sent home with Oct. 3 Progress Reports. The sale will run from Oct. 10 – Oct 24 with pickup scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17.
Even with our much needed new members, we are still in great demand for additional parent and student involvement if we are going to succeed! Please join us for our next committee meeting scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17 at the SHS Commons.
