I read with great interest the “Observations” by Andy Sauer concerning our town green. We moved to Suffield a little more than six years ago from the shoreline area, Old Saybrook. It seemed that every town on the shoreline has a town green and more importantly, they use their greens for concerts and arts and crafts, etc. or just relaxing on a park bench and enjoying the scenery.
Recently my wife and I went to Winsted, Conn. to see Connecticut’s Irish Balladeers, The Kerry Boys on the town green. We were given a flyer listing all of the activities that will be held on their green for the summer. Winsted, a town strapped with heavy financial problems, enjoys their green all summer long.
Let us bring back life to the town green as Mr. Andy Sauer suggests “We should have more reasons to get people together more often on The Green.” We have listed only one reason here.
Thank you for this opportunity.
