At their October 2016 meeting, The Suffield Woman’s Club (SWC) hosted guest speakers Lisa Miller, GFWC/CT Domestic Violence Awareness chairperson and a representative from The Network Against Domestic Violence. The speakers educated the members and their guests about the startling statistics, the violence cycle, how to recognize the signs and how they might help. Members of the SWC, which is an ongoing supporter of The Network, collected items for their organization. October was Domestic Violence Awareness month.

On October 11, the SWC held their annual Red Cross Blood Drive. Members of the Club volunteered their time at the Second Baptist Church and made sandwiches and goodies for the donors. It was yet another successful drive, resulting in 32 pints of lifesaving blood. “Each donation could help save up to three lives”, says Christine Auletta, of the American Red Cross.

The Suffield Woman’s Club is currently accepting applications for membership. Please contact chairperson Jean Neagle at 860-668-1876. The SWC is proud to be a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs/CT.
