All the Zoning and Conservation approvals have been issued, the land ownership has transferred, and new construction in Mach One Industrial Park on South Street is expected to start in a week or two.

The two-story addition being planned for the Suffield Town Hall is shown in this conceptual rendering, viewed from the southwest. With a large ground floor addition and a somewhat smaller first floor expansion. Departments now located in the Town Hall Annex and at 230 Mountain Road would be together again. A new stair tower joining all three levels is next to the ground level door.

Concepts Studied for Expanded Town Hall

In 2015 a Town Meeting approved bonding for $5.1 million for the needed work, including a small addition on the west end of the building, but new First Selectman Melissa Mack, elected in November 2015, soon realized that more was needed and called for a new study and a new plan.

On April 6 the Connecticut State Firefighters Association inducted Suffield Fire Chief Chuck Flynn into the Connecticut Firefighters Hall of Fame, a significant honor.
