Competitive figure skating captivated Kim Rossi for eleven years. Working with different coaches at the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury, she competed in the New England Region and New York.

Performing with her theatre-on-ice group, Haute Couture, Kim skated at Rockefeller Center in the countdown to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. “An opportunity of a lifetime!” Kim recalls, remembering her competition with ice dancers Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov.

Adopted at age 2 by Gina and James Rossi, Kim honors her parents for her years of training and support! “Coach fees!” she exclaimed. “Ice time! Dresses!” Kim especially appreciates the cost of custom-made boots and blades her parents provided.

From ice dancing, Kim glided happily into caring for elders with the goal of doing social work. Attending Goodwin College four days a week, Kim works as an aide at Suffield by the River.

“I love hearing the residents’ stories!” Kim says, appreciating stories from all walks of life. “Many of them experienced wars I have read about in school!”

These experiences, Kim says “…will help me in my future as a social worker…. To be understanding of people… and be able to connect with them!”
