Celebrate the Harvest!

Saturday, November 18 between 10 a.m. – noon, Kent Memorial Library will host a festival of events for adults and children. There will be harvest crafts, donuts and cider, and Rusty the Miniature Horse!

Meet a Miniature Horse Named Rusty!

Rusty is a four legged Suffield resident from the farm, On Target Miniatures, with a quite remarkable story. One night a bobcat made his way into Rusty’s stall and attacked him. He was badly injured and you can still see his scars today, but he survived! Come visit with this amazing miniature horse, at Kent Memorial Library on Saturday, November 18, between 10 a.m. – noon. Registration is not required, just drop by.

Make a Harvest Centerpiece

Adults can make a fresh flower centerpiece for a Thanksgiving table! Join Kent Memorial Library staff, on Saturday, November 18, and learn how to create a centerpiece using fresh flowers and faux fall leaves. Crafting sessions will be 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Each session will run 30 minutes. Staff members will be on hand to instruct or assist crafters and all supplies are funded by the Friends of Kent Memorial Library. And yes, the centerpiece is yours to take with you! Registration is required.

Make a Pumpkin Turkey Decoration

Saturday, November 18 between 10 a.m. – noon, children ages 5 and up are invited to make a pumpkin turkey decoration using leaves, foam and a small gourd. No registration is required, just drop by. This program is funded by the Friends of Kent Memorial Library.

Make a Fall Wreath

Children of all ages are invited to make a paper plate wreath using leaves and other items.

Polar Express: A Story Time

Kent Memorial Library invites children ages 3—5 to board the Polar Express on Tuesday, December 5, at 6:30 p.m., or Wednesday, December 6, at 10:30 a.m. During this 45-minute program children will travel to the North Pole, drink hot cocoa or apple cider, make a craft, meet Santa and hear the story of The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg.

Wear your PJs if you’d like. The Polar Express Story Time will be held at 61 Ffyler place, and registration is required. Suffield residents only.

Decorate a Gingerbread House

Children ages 5—17 are invited to join the Children’s Team on Saturday, December 9 at 10:30 a.m and decorate an assembled gingerbread house. All candy, frosting and edible items will be provided. Registration is required. The program will be held at Second Baptist Church, 100 North Main Street and is funded by the Friends of Kent Memorial Library. Open to Suffield residents only.
