The party was an enjoyable social occasion, with a few minutes devoted to announcements and awards, most notably the change of top leadership reported on Page 1 of this issue. Sam Awards honoring dedicated staffers striving to fulfill the intentions of founder Sam Fuller were announced with gratitude. Another volunteer was commended for her special contributions. And retiring Board Chairman Lauren Life was given a framed print of one of columnist Peggy MacKinnon’s lovely watercolor views of the Town Green.
Production crew member Sue Mayne, seated, and Diane O’Grady were unable to attend the volunteers’ party; they are pictured at the Observer office with their new Sam Award certificates.
