Winter Reading Program

(Children and Teens)

Winter Reading is in progress and ends March 3. Want to win an iPad, Amazon gift card, Leap Reader, Magna Tiles or other great prizes? Come join Winter Reading! Read by yourself or together, and earn two free raffle tickets each week: one for a weekly prize and the other for a Grand Prize to be awarded at the end of this six week program. Oh! Take Your Child to the Library Day

Saturday, February 3 is Take Your Child to the Library Day! So come on over for a fun day! Have a cup of cocoa, make a craft and get a goody bag. If you like rocks, stop by to talk to the Connecticut Valley Mineral Club between 10 a.m. and noon. Bring your favorite rock and ask them what it is. Remember, we’re at 61 Ffyler Place.

Infant Massage

Infant massage classes with Certified Child Life Specialist Jacqueline Ingram are in progress. There are two classes left on February 5 and 12 at 10:15 a.m. Check registration to see if there’s still room. Would you like to learn to massage your baby? This series for babies and parents, is taught by Jacqueline Ingram, certified educator of infant massage, CCLS. Massage helps infant sleep patterns, helps reduce stress, and strengthens parent-baby bonding. Each class lasts an hour. Be sure to bring a cozy blanket for baby to lie on. Registration required.

Story Time

Holly Milton Benoit

Story Time is in progress. On February 7, Holly will be reading books by author Oliver Jeffers, and February 14 will be Knights and Dragons and Dinosaurs. Story Time starts at 10:15 a.m. There will be stories and a craft, during this 30-45 minute Program. Ages 2-5. Registration recommended, but we also welcome drop-ins. Come have fun!

Valentine Story Time with Chelsea Smith

Join Chelsea Smith for a Valentine’s Day story, activity, and craft during this 30-45 minute story time on Saturday, February 10 at 10:30 a.m. For ages 2-5. When story time is done, play with our Thomas Train Table! Registration is recommended, but we welcome drop-ins. Come spread the love!

Origami Airplanes

Make origami airplanes with Gail Altschwager on Saturday, February 10 at 2 p.m. While making your airplanes, learn what will help you fly them higher and faster during this hour long program. All supplies will be provided. Ages 7-10. Registration required. Sponsored by the Friends of Kent Memorial Library.

Teen Vision Boards

On Monday, February 5 (6-7 p.m.) give yourself a little love during Valentine’s week and join crafter Amy Healy to design a vision board to take you through 2018 with a plan (and a cool piece of art for your room!) This FREE event is for grades 6-12. Registration required. “What you imagine, you create.” – Buddha

Practice Reading – To a Dog!

Practice your reading – with a dog! – on Saturday, February 17 between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Individual reading sessions last 15 minutes. Working on your reading? Feeling a bit shy about reading? Want to show off your skills? Think it sounds like fun? Come read to a certified dog from Healers with Halos. Check them out at www.boltenvet.com. Registration required.

Kids on the Move

Join My Gym Enfield for a fun, active class for children ages 2-5 on Saturday, February 17 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. We’ll be over at the Senior Center. The class will incorporate gymnastics skills, games, relays, puppet shows and more! Funded by Friends of the Kent Memorial Library. Registration required.

Wonder

Did you read the book by R.J. Palacio? Come see the movie on Tuesday, February 20 at 2 p.m.! This family drama is Rated PG and is 1 hour 53 min. Registration required as seating is limited.

Science Saturday: Robot-Mini-Golf Competition

Saturday, March 3 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Suffield Senior Center, Bridge Street.

On Saturday, March 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, grab your friends and head to the Senior Center to code robots to roll through a mini-golf course designed by you! Pizza and soda provided! Registration is required.

Polymer Clay Workshop with Jumping Clay

Kids ages 7 – 12 are invited to this hour-long polymer clay workshop on Saturday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. Aime from Jumping Clay will give you step-by-step modeling instructions for making a clay character, along with color mixing and other creative techniques. Registration required. Sponsored by the Friends of Kent Memorial Library.

Drop-In Programs

Play Group

Come to Play-Group on Friday mornings 10 a.m. to noon. Want to get out of the house? Want to meet other parents and kids? Come to Play-Group, offered to care-givers and children. No age restrictions, no registration required – just drop in.

Rhyme Time

Join us for Rhyme Time, infants and up. Bring your singing voice on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. We sing, dance, read and have fun! No registration required, just drop in.
