Members of Suffield’s Polish Heritage Society assemble for a group portrait after some joyful Polish carol singing at the group’s December meeting.

The Polish Heritage Society closed out 2017 with some very joyful Christmas carol (Kol?dy) singing at its December meeting. Two Felician Sisters from Enfield led the group in Polish songs accompanied by Jim Turek and Ed Zieminski on trumpet and clarinet, respectively. Father Mark Jette, from Sacred Heart Parish, The Merged Churches of Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s, was a guest at this meeting and addressed the group.

The PHS started off 2018 with an interesting presentation by Ed Jaworski about living in France and attending weddings of Polish relatives. The theme of wedding traditions will continue at the next meeting on Wednesday, February 7, at 10 a.m. in the Suffield Ambulance Center at 205 Bridge St. In addition to a discussion about customary practices at Polish weddings, we will relive (on DVD) the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of Lewis and Nellie Kopcinski in May 1989.

All are welcome to attend. It is not necessary to be a Suffield resident to participate.
