March 3: Science Saturday: Robot-Mini-Golf Competition

Saturday, March 3 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

Suffield Senior Center, Bridge Street

On Saturday, March 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., grab your friends (or come meet some new ones) and head to the Senior Center to code robots to roll through a mini-golf course designed by you! Pizza and soda provided! Registration is required.

March 3: Polymer Clay Workshop with Jumping Clay

Kids ages 7–12 are invited to this hour-long polymer clay workshop on Saturday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. with Aime from Jumping Clay. Registration required. Sponsored by the Friends of Kent Memorial Library.

March 5: Free Chess Lessons

Want to learn chess? Don’t miss this opportunity! The Connecticut Chess Organization will provide chess classes for beginning chess players (grades K-12) once a week on Mondays: March 5, 12, 19 and 26. The lessons will take place at the Senior Center from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Bring a chess set if you have one. Please register. The lessons are funded by the Friends of the Kent Memorial Library.

March 7: Wednesday Story Time with Holly Milton-Benoit

Check out story time on Wednesdays with Miss Holly at 10:15 a.m.! There will be stories and a craft during this 30–45 minute program. Ages 2–5. Register or drop-in. Come have fun! Sponsored by the Friends of Kent Memorial Library.

March 10: My Own Rainbow Story Time with Chelsea Smith

St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! Join Chelsea for a rainbow story time, activity and craft on Saturday, March 10th at 10:30 a.m. For ages 2–5. When story time is done, play with our Thomas Train Table! Register or drop-in.

March 14: Story Time with Dr. Toni from Enfield Pediatric Dentistry

We’ll have a special visitor at story time on Wednesday, March 14 at 10:15 a.m. Dr. Toni Russo of Enfield Pediatric Dentistry is going to read to us and bring a craft. No time like the present to learn how to take care of your smile.

March 17: Practice Reading – To A Dog! (Third Saturdays)

Practice your reading –with a dog! – on Saturday, March 17 between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Individual reading sessions last 15 minutes. Working on your reading? Feeling a bit shy about reading? Want to show off your skills? Think it sounds like fun? Come read to a certified dog from Healers with Halos. Check them out at www.boltenvet.com. Registration required.

March 24: Signing and Singing with Corinne Walters

Learn how to sign a song with Corinne Walters on Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. We’ll also be making a craft during this 30 minute program. Ages 2–5. Register or drop-in. Also, Helen Keller (Sheryl Faye)will be in Suffield, on Saturday, April 7, at  1 p.m.!

March 27: Applying for a Summer Job

This 1-hour program intended for high school students will explore the ins and outs of the summer job hunt; Tuesday, March 27 at 6:00 p.m. Covering topics such as self-assessment, employer expectations, and leadership opportunities, you won’t want to miss this event. Students will learn strategies for locating “hidden” summer jobs and internships, and explore how they fit with the college experience. If you’re interested in finding a summer job that matches your personality, boosts your résumé, and will put some money in your pocket, this workshop is for you! Presented by Cat Carter, Academic & Career Advisor Asnuntuck Community College.
