With daughter Mandy, left, and husband Jay, Johanne Presser holds the Observer in front of Nashville’s Parthenon, a reproduction of the ancient original in Athens, Greece. An art museum now, the building rose in 1897 as a centerpiece of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. It was rebuilt in concrete when the 1897 wood rotted.
The Observer seems to be more durable than we expected, for here it is, taken along by Alan and Rob Fahrenholz while cage diving for great white sharks off Neptune Island in Southern Australia. Or maybe they’re holding the corners of a big plastic sleeve with the paper inside.
State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61), center, took the Observer with her to the State Capitol, where she is pictured with her colleagues Reps. Noreen Kokoruda (R-101) and Pam Staneski (R-119) congratulating the eight Connecticut athletes competing in the winter Olympics.
Ralph and Donna Garside took the Observer along during their Christmas week in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British territory in the Caribbean.
