Joseph LaValla

Congratulations to Joseph LaValla, who was chosen as the Rotary Student of the Month for April. Joseph is currently a senior at Suffield High School and has been very active through his four years here at Suffield High School.

Joseph has been on our cross-country and indoor/outdoor track team for the past four years. This year he was chosen as the captain of the team for indoor and outdoor track. Joseph has maintained honors or high honors every quarter throughout his high school years. He is a member of the National Honor Society, where he has helped to organize a local blood drive, has planned for a local Christmas choir group to sing at the Suffield Senior Center and was very active on the prize committee for our volleyball marathon this year. Joseph is also a member of the Spanish Honor Society where he helped to plan our World Language Week. Joseph is also a member of our Chick Fil-A Leader Academy. He has helped to create baskets for our local first responders and is in the process of planning a road race in which all proceeds will go to a local family.

In Joseph’s spare time, he enjoyed singing in the Around the Town Singers group for a few years and earned his Black Belt in karate. Joseph has worked at Sports World Summer Camp in East Windsor and will be working as a retail employee at Six Flags this summer.

Joseph will be attending Clemson University in South Carolina in the fall majoring in bio-engineering. Congratulations to Joseph for this well-deserved award!
