Old Well Given Glass Cover

A week before back-to-school day at Suffield Academy, workers carefully lower a thick safety-glass disk into place over the old well rediscovered in front of Memorial Building. The school decided not to fill and bury the well; instead, it has been preserved in an attractive gathering space with lights under the new cover pointing deep inside. The school plans to use the well in a number of courses related to American history and literature and the history of Suffield.
