Canal Lock Wall Collapses

This view looking down into the guard lock at the north end of the Windsor Locks Canal shows the immense stone that fell from the side-wall of the lock in late summer, leaving the upper tier of the wall in precarious but stable condition. The gates at the end of the lock, long out of use, are shown at the right. No one was close when the collapse occurred, but volunteer maintenance workers from the Friends of the Canal heard the big noise.
