The West Suffield Congregational Church’s International Bazaar is being held on Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in conjunction with Christmas in Suffield. As in past years, items will be for sale through SERRV, a non-profit, fair trade organization dedicated to lifting disadvantaged artisans, farmers and their families out of poverty. This year, jewelry and Christmas items made by craftspeople from Haiti will also be sold with all proceeds going to Apparent Project, that pays the artisans. The focus of the project is “to offer opportunities for the Haitians to be able to provide for themselves and their families, empowering them to rise up out of poverty… to be able to keep their families together… to avoid relinquishing their children to orphanages.” We hope you see something you like, either for yourself or as a gift, as you support artisans and families.

The bazaar will also be offering vintage items including stole capes, 1910 holiday postcards and cast-iron doorstops. Decorated themed baskets will be raffled and unbaked frozen apple pies just in time for the holiday season and other scrumptious baked goods will be for sale. As in past years hot soups, fresh bread and warm apple pie slices will be available for lunch. Treat yourself to beef stew, tuscan sausage, kale or seafood chowder, just to name a few of the offerings.
