Dr. Mel Chafetz, former Spaulding Principal, reads to Mrs. Baril’s second grade class.

Spaulding School continued its annual celebration of Read Across America with several events the week of February 25. Monday was Wear Green Day – along with green clothing we saw some green hair! In addition, preschool was joined by Miss Connecticut, Bridget Oei, as a guest reader. Tuesday was Hat Day – we saw everything from baseball caps to Cat in the Hat hats! Wednesday was Wacky – the hairstyles and clothing choices definitely made it a Wacky Wednesday! Thursday was Pajama Day – the staff and students enjoyed coming to school in their comfy P.J.s!

Our assistant superintendent was a guest reader in Ms. Slawinowski’s preschool class. We had also planned for McAlister students and staff to join us for the first half of the morning for some fun reading activities, but our delayed opening made that impossible. We’ll try again next year. Friday was Crazy Sock Day & Guest Reader Day. Although weather canceled our annual get together with McAlister we were excited to have community guest readers join us on Friday, March 1. Over 20 readers joined us to share their love of reading with our classes.
