“A Universe of Stories … to Remember.” That’s our theme for the summer program. We will celebrate our return “home”to Main Street with lots of baskets to give away. B.J. Smith will be back by popular demand, for book discussions: July 17 to talk about Home by Toni Morrison, and August 8 for the book The Shipping News by Annie Proulx. And to celebrate the Big 5-0 of Woodstock, Mattrc Black will return to wrap it up on August 8 with a surprisingly fun look back at the music that we all remember. Watch our website, stop by, and plan to be part of this spectacular summer.
Sunday, July 7, Noon at the Phelps-Hatheway House
Declaration of Independence Reading and “Sworn Again” Ceremony. Join us for a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence as we continue to celebrate July 4. Community participants will read aloud from this moving document. After the reading, guests are invited to renew their civic vows in an effort to revitalize our citizenship through the “Sworn Again” program as part of the American Creed grant which was received by the library. When immigrants become U.S. citizens, they swear an oath. Let’s renew our vows to America. To read more about the Sworn Again program go to www.swornagainamerica.us. Light summer refreshments will be served. (This is a joint program with the Phelps-Hatheway House).

Poetry lovers please gather to read and talk about poetry. Local poets can bring their poems to read, others can recite their favorite poems.
Tuesday, August 20, 7 p.m. Baseball Trivia with Karl Cicitto. Karl will test your baseball knowledge. Possible topics for the quiz are managers and umpires, baseball music and 1969: Baseball’s Amazin’ Year. Refreshments. Prizes. Fun.
