The Second Baptist Church of Suffield is pleased to announce the 2016 Annual Community Christmas Concert. This event will take place Saturday, December 17 at 3 p.m. at the church, so plan to come for fantastic music and a great time with your neighbors!

A town tradition for more than a decade, this marks the thirteenth year that Director of Music Ministries, Evelyne Battle, is coordinating the concert. Evelyne brings together local musicians, vocalists, and school groups to share their talents with the town in celebration of the Christmas season. While there is no cost to attend the concert, there will be a free-will offering to benefit the Fuel Bank administered by the Suffield Emergency Aid Association.

Featuring an entertaining variety of musical ensembles and individuals of all ages, the program changes from year to year. What remains constant is the amazing talent in Suffield and the surrounding communities. Over the years, the church has hosted choirs from local schools, the various Second Baptist Church choirs and groups, piano and organ duets, instrumental groups, and various soloists.

The Second Baptist Sanctuary Choir, Handbell Choir, and the SBC Singers will be among the musical groups featured in the concert this year. They will be joined by special guests including the Suffield High School Chamber Ensemble, Hall High School’s Choraliers and hopefully a new instrumental group from Suffield Middle School. Jean Aldrich Jones will accompany the Second Baptist vocal choirs as well as direct the Bell Choir.

Over the years, the most popular group to be featured has become the assembled audience! Everyone is invited to join together in singing familiar carols throughout the concert. If you have not experienced the singing of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” at this event, you are in for a treat!

The community spirit continues after the concert, when all are invited to a reception of light refreshments in the church’s Fellowship Hall. The reception offers everyone the opportunity of visiting with each other as well as with the various performers.

Come join friends and neighbors for an afternoon of Christmas music, cheer, friendship, and fun!
