On Saturday June 4, the 12th annual Suffield Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament took place at Suffield Country Club. This year 61 golfers, divided into two groups based on handicaps, competed for low gross and low net. The tournament is the sole fundraiser for the scholarship fund. The tournament relies heavily on the generosity of sponsors. This year our major sponsors were Windsor Federal Savings and East of the River Oral Surgery.

There were several prize holes including closest to the pin on all the par 3’s sponsored by Suffield Village Dental, Urban Foresters, RBC Wealth Management, and Medical-Dental Consultants; a longest drive competition sponsored by Connecticut Periodontal & Implant Associates and Boston Trust & Investment Management Co.; a closest to the line competition sponsored by Suffield Village LLC and Suffield By the River.

There was also a putting contest sponsored by Edward Jones of Suffield and hole-in-one prizes offered by Artioli Dodge and McKenna Orthodontics. Unfortunately, no one drove away in a new car or with a free Invisalign smile!

At a dinner that evening, the Knights awarded the scholarships. This year $9,000 in scholarships was awarded to six graduating seniors. Michael McDermott received the Father Ted Raczynski Scholarship which is $1,000 renewable for four years. Bradley Grimard received the Dr. Alfred Stafford Scholarship. Caelee Sorto was the recipient of the George Farley Scholarship. Colleen McAnaney received the Sister Dorothy A. Connelly Scholarship, and there were two recipients of the Father Michael DeVito Scholarships: Thomas Drakely, Jr. and Austin Mankouski. Each of these scholarships is a single $1,000 prize.Knights of Columbus Logo
