Suffield Knights of Columbus & Landry Sic VFW Post 9544 co-host a monthly Texas Hold’em Poker tournament to raise money for local veterans in need. The tournaments take place on the first Friday of the month from October through April. A check for $1,703 was delivered to Suffield Emergency Aid Association.

Last November, $1,509 was given to the Emergency Aid Association (EAA) which enabled them to authorize monthly payment for an emergency response system for a Suffield veteran who is determined to continue living alone in his own home. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday!

EAA also partnered on a one-month mortgage payment for a local veteran who is suffering end-stage liver disease.

In order to help a local veteran maintain employment, EAA split the cost of an essential car repair so he could get to work.

EAA authorized a home care assistant to accompany a medically-compromised veteran to get to two critical appointments at the Newington Veteran’s Hospital.

The tournaments will start again in October.
