The Suffield High School boys swim team has enjoyed a successful season this winter. Led by Suffield High senior captains Jack Butler and Bailey Martin, the boys are off to their best dual meet record of their high school careers.

This season the boys have formed a co-op with East Windsor and donned the team name, “Wildcats Swimming.” As of early February the program has several key wins over Hall of West Hartford, Granby, and Simsbury. The boys’ winter season runs from early December to mid March where they will compete in the class M swimming division. Swimmers who place in the top 24 in the state will move on to the CT open meet at Yale on March 18th.

The team has improved their last 2 years from 10th to 7th in class S. This year the team has aspirations of top 5 in class M. The goal in swimming is to improve personally, driving the team forward at the same time. Coaches Kevin Mattia and Kim Marker have said, “The team has worked hard and earned their successes, we will be sure the boys are prepared for March championships!”

Unfortunately the boys swim team does not have any divers. If interested, diving is a great transition for any male gymnasts in town seeking a winter sport!

For those interested in swimming, the Windsor Locks Water Jets offer an affordable experience to begin swimming. There are also many USA swimming programs surrounding Suffield for a more competitive atmosphere. Swimming is a great sport, and we have many athletes of varying ability, maybe you can be the next swimmer to represent the town of Suffield!
