It may be cold outside, but soon buds will be bursting and birds will be nesting.

During the April school vacation, FOFAH has organized two nature workshops for kids to explore the water, mud, trees and sky of Hilltop Farm.

Monday, April 10 – “Wet and Wild with Amphibians”. Explore the wetlands at Hilltop Farm. Learn about our native amphibians (frogs and salamanders), and their spring migration. Discuss why spring time is so important to these very cool creatures. Observe frog eggs, learn frog songs, and how to catch these slippery creatures.

Tuesday, April 11 – “Long Journey for Small Birds”. Explore the river banks and forests of Hilltop Farm looking for evidence of birds migrating up the CT River to their summer homes. Learn how and why birds migrate, the songs of these important birds, and how to increase the populations of song birds in our town.

Sessions are grouped by age. Fee for each participant is $15 for each session or $25 for both days.

Ages 4 to 6: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Mon and Tues.)

Ages 7 to 9: 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Mon. and Tues.)
