At the regular meeting of the Suffield Polish Heritage Society on Wednesday, March 1, members of the Christian family of Suffield will talk about their role in Suffield agriculture. The meeting will begin discussion at 10 a.m. at the SVAA Ambulance Center on Bridge Street.
The Christian family has been producing shade-grown tobacco in Suffield for decades. They are recognized especially for their donation of Christian Field for Suffield Little League baseball. Family members including Ronnie, Kenny, Arthur and Eugene Christian with their sisters Ann Barberi and Millie Chmielewski will share family history at the March 1 meeting of the Polish Heritage Society.
On Sunday, March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph PHS member Jim Turek will be interviewed on radio station WARE by John Dill.
Jim Turek is the author of a Turek family history and the presenter of several special interest programs at Polish Heritage Society and Suffield Historical Society. Retired music teacher and professional musician, Jim opens PHS meetings by playing the Polish national anthem on trumpet as members sing the lyrics.
Meetings of the Polish Heritage Society are open to all.
