On February 27, the Suffield Police Department sponsored advanced training class for regional area police departments to promote Commercial Motor Vehicle Awareness. This one-day training, presented by Lieutenant Donald Bridge, Jr., of the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles and inspectors from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Division, trained local and state police officers on how to recognize common violations on trucks and other commercial vehicles and how to enforce safety laws such as equipment violations, mechanical violations, and truck-specific regulations.

Student police officers attending were from police departments of Avon, Canton, East Granby, Enfield, Farmington, Granby, Simsbury, and of course Suffield, as well as law enforcement officers from the Connecticut State Police and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Division.

The attending officers participated in classroom lecture and training in Suffield, then travelled to East Granby where a practical field exercise was held at the East Granby Department of Public Works.
