Artist Bernard Duffy’s painting, “Complimentary,” was a recent second prize winner in the Friends of the Chicopee Library show.

Bernard Duffy of Broad Brook, a retired long-time police officer, serving as a Lieutenant with the Enfield Police Department, and later as a Captain with East Windsor, will be the featured artist in the June show at the Pinney Gallery, found in Suffield’s Kent Memorial Library, currently occupying temporary space at 61 Ffyler Place, behind the CVS Plaza.

Bernie, past president of the Tobacco Valley Artists Association, began painting at an early age but furthered his education in art at Asnuntuck Community College later in life. Mainly self-taught, he has studied with several area artists in an effort to improve his craft, and has recently received recognition through awards received in shows in Chicopee, Rockville, Suffield, and Somers.

Painting in an Impressionistic style, Bernie lists seascapes, portraits, still lifes, and landscapes as subjects which he paints in oils, watercolors, and pastels. Examples of all will be found in this exhibit which appears through the month of June thanks to the artist, the Kent Library staff, and the efforts of the Suffield Arts Council.

Mr. Duffy will host a “Meet The Artist” reception on Thursday evening, June 8, from 6-8 p.m.

Members of the public are invited. Refreshments will be served.
