On September 29, the Suffield Firefighters Association will hold its Second Annual Golf Tournament named to honor the late John Golec Sr, who served the town as a firefighter for over 50 years. The tournament will be held at the Tekoa Country Club, 459 Russell Rd., Westfield, Mass. beginning with a continental breakfast and check-in at 8:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10 a.m.. It will conclude with a social hour at 4 p.m. followed by dinner and an awards presentation. Golfers may obtain entry forms in person at the Suffield Fire Station 1, 73 Mountain Road. Alternatively forms may be obtained by downloading them from the Town of Suffield web site, www.suffieldct.gov or by emailing a request to: President@SuffieldFire.org.
All proceeds support the Association’s activities such as intermediate through pre-school fire safety education, firefighter training to better protect the property and residents of Suffield, and the purchase of uniform items not covered by Town funds. The Association also holds a series of well known community-building events including the Annual Fireworks display and Family Picnic and the Annual Firefighter Paul Simison Memorial 5K Road Race and provides annual scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Donations from the public to support the Tournament in the form of raffle prizes to be given at the dinner will be most welcome.
