Suffield’s Republican Town Caucus took place on July 20, with almost 80 in attendance.

The biggest surprise of the evening was that no candidate was endorsed for First Selectman. The consensus seems to be that Republicans in Town are pleased with the financial conservatism shown by the present First Selectman.

With few exceptions, incumbents on boards and commissions were endorsed. Jerry Mahoney, formerly chairman of the Fire Commission, was endorsed as a candidate for the Board of Selectmen, along with current members Tim Reynolds and Joanne Sullivan.

In order to continue their work in the job of formulating the Town Budget in these uncertain times, incumbent candidates for the Board of Finance Ryan Anderson, Brian Kost and Chairman Justin Donnelly, along with alternates John Sullivan and Tracy Eccles, were endorsed for another term.

Newcomers Lisa Auchy and Maureen Sattan were endorsed as Board of Education candidates, along with incumbents Natalie Semyanko and Michael Sepko. Other newcomers nominated along with incumbents were Jack Bucior and Vic Mathieu for the Fire Commission and Ryan Walters for the Board of Assessment appeals.
