The Town of Suffield’s newly hired Youth Services Coordinator, Nikki Lengyel, began work in July. Ms. Lengyel holds a Master of Social Work degree from Westfield State University. Her most recent experience includes in-home and outpatient clinician services for the Justice Resource Institute/Northeast Behavioral Health. Suffield Human Resources Director Karin Ziemba praised the selection stating, “We are excited to have Ms. Lengyel join the Town of Suffield. Her strong background and warm interpersonal skills make her uniquely qualified to serve Suffield’s young people and their families.”

The Youth Services Coordinator reports directly to the First Selectman, collaborating closely with the Social Services Commission, schools, School Resource Officer, Police Department and Juvenile Review Board. The position specifically targets youth and their families, with responsibilities including: development of programs and services that promote positive mental and social growth; case management services to “at-risk” populations which may involve assessment of needs, direct services, advocacy, and linkage(s) to community resources. Ms. Lengyel’s part-time schedule will be flexible in order to better meet the needs of the community.
