This year Troop 260 was back on Suffield on the Green with a perennial favorite, the Monkey Bridge. The bridge was relocated in 2017 to the Family Fun Zone on the North Green. Over 450 “kids” of all ages crossed the bridge this year. Building on last year’s success with kettle corn, the Troop decided to invest in its own equipment. Generous donations were secured from the Suffield Rotary and the Friends of Suffield by Troop Committee member Ed Boyd.

Assistant Scoutmaster Shawn Sorrow, owner of Triple S Industries in town, went about designing, engineering and fabricating the Troop’s new popper and sifting table. Shawn donated his time, engineering ability and fabricating skills in honor of his dad, Stephen Sorrow, Eagle Scout.

The money the Troop raises selling kettle corn helps fund its program. For example, this fall the Troop will be caving near Albany New York, ultralight backpacking in Rhode Island and learning urban navigation skills in New York City.
