It is with great sadness that the Suffield Police Department announces that K9 Officer Peter Osowiecki lost his canine partner of nearly ten years, K9 “Z,” on the evening of October 10. K9 “Z” had to be euthanized from a rapid onset of a medical condition.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that the police department makes this announcement.

K9 “Z” honorably served the Town of Suffield alongside K9 handler Officer Peter Osowiecki, having participated in countless K9 operations, community policing functions, and even having traveled throughout the country sharing their knowledge and training with other Law Enforcement K9 teams.

“Our thoughts are with Officer Osowiecki,” Police Chief Richard Brown said. “For over ten years the team of K9 “Z” and Officer Osowiecki served the town with honor and distinction. They went everywhere together, service calls, meetings, youth camps, parades. You could always count on them day or night. They worked, ate and played together. K9 “Z” was family and will be sorely missed by our agency.”

Please join the men and women of the Suffield Police Department in expressing condolences to Officer Osowiecki and his family, as “Z” was part of both our law enforcement family as well as the Osowiecki family.
