Did you notice the “Christmas in Suffield” insert that went out in the November issue of The Suffield Observer? An insert is a great way for an organization to reach out to the 6,900 households in Suffield and West Suffield that receive The Observer.
An insert is a special service that The Observer makes available only to nonprofits. Their charge is $200 to help cover the cost of having Turley Publications “insert” a brochure, newsletter or postcard into each copy of The Observer when it is printed.
The main cost of doing an insert is printing the brochure. For example, a 4 x 9 two-sided color “rack card” will cost around 15¢ each – that’s about $1,000 for 6,900 of them. There are a number of local printers who can print brochures from a Word document or from a .pdf or .jpg file. Some will also help with brochure design for a fee.
Janine LaBlanc and Jackie Prevost at Turley can answer questions about inserts. Call them at 413-283-8393 for guidance. Turley is a full service printer, so they can also give you an estimate for the cost to actually have Turley print your insert.
To start the insert process, send a note to Ads@TheSuffieldObserver.com to let the paper know that you would like to do an insert. Then start making plans to have the brochures prepared and delivered to Turley in Palmer, MA by the 24th of the month before publication.
