Calliope Brass, one of our fabulous ensembles from last year’s series, returns with their new show What’s Your Story? (WYS). WYS is a fun, energetic and interactive program specially designed for kids in grades K-5 (but lots of fun for everyone!). It teaches young audiences about musical terms and concepts and the instruments in the brass family. The show features an original score by Broadway composer and Hamilton national tour Associate Music Director, Kat Sherrell. WYS is narrated by our whimsical cast member, Calliope. Designed by Sesame Street puppeteer Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, Calliope is a childlike dragon-fairy who excitedly leads our young audience members through an exploration of the brass family of instruments and how music can be used to represent characters, emotions and settings in a story.

Calliope Brass will complete the concert with a performance of popular jazz pieces that will entertain our entire audience. You will love this show.

February 17 at 1 p.m., Chapel. Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Training in conjunction with Suffield Youth Services and Suffield Academy. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling or neighbor. All are welcome.
