The following events are happening in April at First Church, An Open and Affirming Church. Worship is held every Sunday at 10 a.m. All are welcome!!

Six Week Lenten Study Online via Zoom, continuing Mondays at 7:30 p.m.

Entering the Passion of Jesus: A beginner’s Guide to Holy Week. To join this study, please contact Rev. Diann H. Bailey associate@fcsuffield.org

April 1 & 8 – Qi Gong, 10 a.m. in the Chapel. $10 per class.

  April 3 – Communion Luncheon, 12 p.m. in the Gay Room.

 April 12 – Quiet Day, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. closing worship. Quiet Day is a self-directed spiritual experience. Come and walk a labyrinth, assist with a Mission Project, Journey through Prayer, Meditate through colors, and so much more…all at your own pace.

 April 14 – Palm Sunday Service at 10 a.m. There will be a youth-based activity during worship as our youth learn more about Palm Sunday. The service will premier a Brass Quintet piece by Keith Sisterhenm.

Holy Week Services: Our Holy Week Services will include premiers of original anthems by Noah Smith, our Minister of Music and Organist.

 April 1 – Maundy Thursday Service & Tenebrae Service, 7 p.m. This evening we observe two services that commemorate the final hours of Jesus’ life on this earth. Maundy Thursday is the day Jesus celebrated Passover with his disciples for the last time and gave them a new commandment: to love one another as he loved them. The service of Tenebrae or a Service of Darkness commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus.

 April 19 – Good Friday Service & Luncheon, 12 p.m. in the Sanctuary and Gay Room.

April 21 – Community Sunrise Service, 6 a.m. at Sunset Park, rain or shine! Our traditional Easter Service will be at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

 April 25 – Women’s Fellowship Bingo Night, 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to join us for an hour of Bingo and games! Free to the public, refreshments and prizes available.
