The Doyon family and Kyle Englander are hosting a 5K and 10K Memorial Road Race in memory of ET2 Dustin L. Doyon of the United States Navy, who lost his life while serving on the USS John S. McCain on August 21, 2017.

Dustin was known by his shipmates as a world class athlete, and for running the decks every day while deployed. Dustin’s passion to run started in Suffield Middle School and followed him into his years at Suffield High School and Pope Francis High (formerly Cathedral High), Springfield. Proceeds of the race will help support the Dustin Doyon Scholarship Fund. This fund was established in 2017 to offer opportunities to graduates of both Suffield High School and Pope Francis High School, who have that same desire to run and drive to further their education.

The races will be held on Saturday, May 25, rain or shine, starting from Suffield Middle School. Registration can be made online at runfordustin.weebly.com or on the day of the race between 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. There is a $30 registration fee for the 10K race which starts at 9:50 a.m. and a $20 registration fee for the 5K race which starts at 10 a.m. The registration fee includes free T-shirts to the first 150 participants.

Donations are welcome, even if you are not running. Check the website above, or look for Dustin Doyon Road Race on Facebook for more information.
