Jen Filer is the newest Parks & Rec employee. She is the new Sports Programmer.

March 20, the first day of spring, is a date I look forward to every year with much anticipation. That day brings with it renewed energy and hope for nicer weather around town. Usually, it has been about four months since many of us were able to enjoy warmer weather, work in the yard or just get out for a walk. Every day I see more and more people out walking by my office on Mountain Road, playing in the parks and enjoying spring sport; people seem to have just a bit more cheer! Be sure to get out and enjoy all that Suffield has to offer.

Spring is an exciting time at Parks & Rec for all of us. We have fun program offerings for preschoolers, youth, adults, as well as for families too. Whether you are looking to involve yourself or your child in fitness classes, enrichment programs, sports, or just some old fashioned family fun, we have a variety of programs to choose from in our spring offerings. Be sure to check out all of our programs at: www.suffieldrec.com.

Spring for Parks & Rec means not only launching new programs, but also finalizing plans to help you have a great summer! This season is extra exciting because we are welcoming our newest employee to the department. Jen Filer, our Recreation and Sports Programmer, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with her from Northwest Park in Windsor, where she guided that program to new heights. To say that I am excited for Jen to infuse our existing programs with her expertise would be an understatement. Jen has already contributed to our summer “Tween Adventure Camp” in adding two spectacular field trips to Brownstone Discovery Park and Farmington River Tubing for each session! We will be featuring more of our programming, including our summer camps held at Spaulding School and Sunrise Park in a future Observer article. Do not miss an adventurous summer with Suffield Parks and Recreation.

Watch for our Summer Brochure coming soon around town and online. We will list, with detailed descriptions, all of our summer offerings for preschoolers through adults. We have a large assortment of enrichment and sport programs to pick from, in addition to our very popular camps, Kids Korner/Morning Munchkins (ages 3 – to entering grade 2), Sunrise Day Camp (entering grades 3 – 5), and Tween Adventure Camp (entering grades 6 – 8). We cannot wait to provide these opportunities to make lifelong memories for your child!
