Memory Loss

Do you, or someone you know, have early to moderate memory loss? You’re invited to The Memory Café for fun and conversation. The Memory Café will be held at the Suffield Senior Center! Contact Pat Beeman: 860-668-1986.

Rental Rebate Program for Elderly & Disabled Kicks Off Another Year

State law provides a reimbursement program for Connecticut renters who are elderly or totally disabled, and whose incomes do not exceed certain limits. Persons renting an apartment or room, or living in cooperative housing may be eligible for this program. SCA is now taking applications for the CT Renter’s Rebate program. Call for more information!

Dementia Caregiver Support Group

NEW LOCATION! The group meets the last Tuesday of each month at Suffield Senior Center, 145 Bridge Street, at 11 a.m. The next meeting is Tuesday, June 25. You do not need to be a resident of Suffield to attend. The group is led by a trained Alzheimer’s Association facilitator, Nicole Matson of Home Helpers of Central CT. Call SCA at 860-668-1986 for more information.

Parkinson’s Peer Support Group

The June meeting will be at the Suffield Senior Center. Come share ideas and resources in the management and treatment of Parkinson’s disorder. The meeting is June 10th from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Caregivers are welcome and encouraged to attend. Topics vary monthly. Refreshments/lunch are served. SCA Seeking Volunteer Gardeners

Do you have a green thumb? Perhaps you are into weeding. If so, we could use your help throughout the spring and summer. The garden provides fresh vegetables for residents utilizing our food pantry.

Mail Carriers Food Drive

The National Association of Mail Carriers Food Drive was a huge success in Suffield!

Suffield Community Aid extends a big thanks to all the residents who donated through the Mail Carriers Food Drive held on May 11. It didn’t rain this year! Donations were amazing! Staff and volunteers were kept busy throughout the day stocking the shelves. We especially want to thank our mail carriers for helping make this drive such a success!

Summer Camp for Kids

Having trouble affording summer camp for your children? SCA has funding available to subsidize participation for eligible Suffield children and youth attending Suffield Parks & Rec and other camp programs. For more information or to apply, give us a call!

Are Meals-on-Wheels an Option for You?

Qualified homebound seniors, age 60 and over, living in Suffield can receive healthy lunches and dinners delivered to their door. Meals are balanced, nutritious and diet specific. A $2.50 donation per meal is suggested by the CRT to help cover costs.

Blood Pressure Screening Clinics

Clinics are offered at the Suffield Senior Center on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 11 a.m.to noon.
