The Town of Suffield welcomes three new employees: John Spencer, Chief of Services for the Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association; Alex Kaminski, Chief Operator of the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA); and Francine Aloisa, Interim Director of Kent Memorial Library (KML). “I am delighted these important leadership positions are filled by such strong candidates,” stated Suffield First Selectwoman Melissa M. Mack. “It’s a great way to begin the new year.”

John Spencer most recently worked as Operations Supervisor at American Medical Response in West Hartford. A paramedic since 2006, the new Chief previously served as Regional Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for the Department of Public Health, where he assisted in the development of the State of Connecticut 2016 Patient Care Guidelines. Spencer replaces much-respected Chief Art Groux, who retired to Vermont.

Francine Aloisa
Interim Library Director

Francine Aloisa, no stranger to Suffield,  previously acted as Co-Director of Kent Memorial Library from 1989 to 1995. Over 20 years as Director of Somers Public Library followed her KML tenure. The town continues to seek the permanent replacement for retiring Director Jackie Hemond, who sustained KML during its difficult and lengthy renovation project. The library reopened earlier this year.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to work with the town’s respective boards and commissions during the hiring process,” noted Human Resources Director Karin Ziemba, “our partnership with them is instrumental to a successful outcome.”

The Town of Suffield is a quintessential New England town boasting a population of 16,600. The many people who serve Suffield through town government – as employees and volunteers alike – remain committed to developing and fostering a strong sense of community among its residents.
