Friends of Suffield Giving Back to the Community

The primary mission of the Friends of Suffield, a volunteer organization, is to give back to the Suffield community. All of our projects benefit the Suffield Community. Providing grants to organizations in town is one way we accomplish this.

All of the funds we raise through our town events and activities, most notably Suffield on the Green and Craft Fair, are given back to groups and projects through the Friends of Suffield Grant Process. Requests for grant proposals went out in March and many great ideas were presented for consideration.

Friends of Suffield usually has a ceremony to hand deliver the grant checks. This year’s grant checks were mailed to recipients because of the pandemic. We look forward to seeing photos of the finished projects and purchases from the ten lucky grant recipients.

This year the grants provided a little over $7,000 worth of financial support for work to progress or purchases to be made to enrich the town and the residents of Suffield. This monetary support will make a garden project possible for local seniors, food carts will be purchased for a local food pantry, and much more. The 2020 grant recipients were:

1. Boy Scouts – Troop 66

2. Boy Scouts – Troop 260

3. Crossroads Food Pantry

4. Girl Scouts’ Silver Award Project

5. Girl Scout – Troop 10970

6. Phelps Hatheway House

7. Second Baptist Church

8. Suffield Community Aid

9. Suffield Middle School Student Council

10. The Suffield Players
