The Suffield Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointments of Mrs. Gina Olearczyk and Mrs. Kris Pryce. Following a thorough interview process, the Board voted unanimously to appoint Mrs. Gina Olearczyk as Principal of A. Ward Spaulding School and Mrs. Kris Pryce as Principal of McAlister Intermediate School effective December 14.
Over the past six months, Mrs. Olearczyk and Mrs. Pryce have taken on the enormous challenge of leading our schools as interim principals during an unprecedented time in public education. Their vision, leadership, and years-long dedication to the SPS has resulted in the Board’s profound confidence regarding their potential as educational leaders within the district. The formal appointments of Mrs. Olearczyk and Mrs. Pryce are an important step to stabilizing school leadership at our elementary schools and shifting our focus toward the future.
Mrs. Olearczyk brings first-hand experience to A. Ward Spaulding School after recently serving as the Interim Principal and Elementary Supervisor of Special Education. Previous to serving in these roles, Mrs. Olearczyk served as the Assistant Principal at both Suffield High School and Suffield Middle School. Prior to her tenure in Suffield, she also served as the Assistant Principal of Windermere Elementary School in Ellington. Mrs. Olearczyk earned her Sixth Year in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University. She also possesses a Master of Science in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts.
Mrs. Pryce’s appointment at McAlister Intermediate School comes following an illustrious twenty-seven year career as an educator in the SPS. Over the course of her tenure, she has served as a classroom teacher, curriculum leader, and program coordinator. In addition, Mrs. Pryce served as an Assistant Principal at A. Ward Spaulding School before her recent appointment as Interim Principal of McAlister Intermediate School. Mrs. Pryce is also a proud member of SHS graduating class of 1989. Mrs. Pryce has a Bachelor of Arts in Intermediate Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master of Science in Language Arts from Central Connecticut State University, a Sixth Year Certificate in Reading & Language Arts, and a Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Administration from Sacred Heart University.
