There’s nothing quite like fresh air and sunshine to get the staff at KML motivated! While our usual programming continues, we are sprinkling in a few new opportunities for kids and adults. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for current information and sneak peeks at our Summer Reading programs starting in June.

An interactive book discussion with award winning author Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai.

May 12 at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom

Quế Mai will be talking to us about her book all the way from Jakarta, Indonesia, where she currently resides. We will also be raffling off two signed copies of The Mountains Sing. Grab your copy at Kent Memorial Library. Digital copies are also available on Hoopla.

Teen Library Council

May 4 at 3:30 p.m. 

This month we will be planting flowers and seeds to grow at KML and take home. This group meets to discuss books and programming and to participate in fun activities. In-person, at KML outdoors. Grades 5-12.

Tinker Crate Club

May 11 at 3:30 p.m. 

Tinker Crate Club is for Suffield kids grades 5-8 and is hosted by our high school volunteer, Connor. Each month members will meet to create a STEM project together. Email wmitzel@suffield-library.org for more information. The event is limited to five participants and held at KML.

Teen Digital Escape Room

May 18 at 7 p.m.

Join SHS student Sarah to see if you can figure out her latest Digital Escape Room! Grades 5-12. We will send you a Zoom link that day, with extra instructions on how to use the Google Form of riddles and clues that participants need to answer correctly in order to advance and complete the activity. Anyone who registers and participates will get one ticket for a gift card raffle of $20 to Target, or two extra prizes.

Graphic Novel Fest at the Suffield Youth Center May 19 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. 

Join KML at the Youth Center to celebrate all things graphic, featuring a pop-up library to explore our collection of graphic novels and Manga as well as learn to draw and decoupage with art.

Youth in grades 6-8 can walk or take the bus from Suffield Middle School to the Suffield Youth Center located at 145 Bridge Street.

Teen Kahoot with Katy

 May 20 at 5 p.m. 

Grab a pizza and gather ’round the computer for this Family Style Trivia Night.

Don’t know how to use Kahoot? Don’t worry, your kids do! If not, just go to the App store/website https://kahoot.com , and we will give you a link to Zoom the day of the event. Win some great prizes!

NEW Dungeons & Dragons Club with Quinn

May 26 at 4 p.m. 

If you’ve ever wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons but haven’t had the chance, or you play all the time and want to pick up another game, this is for you! Led by Mr. Roberts and teen volunteer, Quinn.

Sessions will be dedicated to playing short games, with the goal of players eventually taking turns running the games themselves.

 So… if you’re looking for an opportunity to play D&D, and potentially gain experience DMing in a safe and fun environment, join us! For grades 6, 7, 8, 9.
