Emile Backes, a well-known face around Suffield, has recently had a book of his poetry published. It is for sale at Feather and Bloom in Suffield’s Mountain Road Market Place. Emile has been writing poetry since he was young, keeping journals of his work and recently posting some of this lyrical work on Facebook.

A friend of Emile’s mother’s thought it would be a special surprise to publish a book of his work (which includes some of his photography), and the book, My Words, became realized.

His inspirations for the poems come from life’s ins and outs and his observations about people and the world around him. Emile has also done some beautiful photography and had a scheduled photo show at Kent Memorial Library just before the pandemic closed everything which had to be postponed. Hopefully it may be able to be rescheduled for the future.
