The Scouts of Troop 260 prepare for practice.

Boy Scouts of America’s motto is “Be Prepared.” In this photo Troop 260 is preparing for a trip down the Allagash River in northern Maine by practicing whitewater canoeing on the Farmington River during a weekend in May.

The trip up to the North Maine Woods in late June is more than a high adventure trek – it’s tradition. For the last four decades, Troop 260 has made a bi-annual trip to the Allagash to canoe 63 miles of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.
