The primary mission of the Friends of Suffield, a volunteer organization, is to give back to the Suffield community. All of our projects benefit the Suffield Community. Providing grants to local organizations in town is one way we accomplish this.

All of the funds we raise through our town events and activities, most notably Suffield on the Green and Craft Fair, are given back to groups and projects through the Friends of Suffield Grant Process. Requests for grant proposals went out in March and many great ideas were presented for consideration.

On June 3, the Friends of Suffield distributed its 2021 grants during a ceremony on the town green. This year, eight grant recipients were awarded a little over $4,000 worth of financial support for their organization’s work to enrich the town and the residents of Suffield. Grants for 2021 benefitted the community, Suffield public schools and extracurricular activities such as scouting. Requests included a human torso, remote broadcasting system, sports equipment, and camping gear. The 2021 grant recipients were:

  1. Aces High Robotics
  2. Boy Scouts – Troop 66
  3. Boy Scouts – Troop 260
  4. Second Baptist Church
  5. Special Olympics CT: Windsor Locks
  6. Suffield Community Aid
  7. Suffield Historical Society
  8. Suffield Middle School Science Department
