Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Suffield and Connecticut, we are requiring masks in our Church building. We will continue to hold in-person services until further notice. Please stay connected to our website, and subscribe to our Weekly Witness newsletter to stay up-to-date on our regulations and changes in building requirements and in-person worship. To sign up for our newsletter emails and our At-Home Worship emails, you can contact the church office at office@fcsuffield.org with a request, or you can go to our Website homepage www.firstchurchsuffield.org, scroll down to “Subscribe” and add your information. Our services are always available on our YouTube page, 10 a.m. each Sunday.

First Church is excited to be kicking off the 2021-2022 church year!

Our first service will be an outdoor service on September 5, 9:30 a.m. on the town green in front of First Church. This service will be our Blessing of the Animals service! This service is a collaborative service with Second Baptist Church. Bring your feathered, scaled, or furry friends to receive a blessing. If your animal friend cannot join – that is ok! Bring a toy, collar, or other special item to represent them and have it blessed.

We extend a joyful welcome to Amy Pott, our new Acting Music Minister! Amy is a graduate of Williams College and the University of Michigan, where she received a Master of Music in piano pedagogy and performance. Amy is a former piano and voice instructor at the Hartt School, University of Hartford. We are blessed to have Amy with us offering a wide range of sacred music and leading us together as we lift praise to God through music at First Church.

First Church is collaborating with Suffield Fire Department to commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11. It will be a service recognizing the day, the tragedy, and the impact and response of the Suffield community. The service will be held Saturday, September 11 at 8:30 a.m. at First Church. All are welcome to attend.

We are gearing up for our full Church Kick-off on Sunday, September 12 at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary! We are excited to begin a new season together on this journey of life and faith. Mark your calendars for our Kick-off that day, followed by time to socialize and learn all about the ministry and community of First Church of Christ. All are welcome to worship with us! At this time we require proper distancing and seat spacing in our services.

Rev. Diann H. Bailey will be offering different Faith Circle opportunities each Thursday this year: Reflection (Journeying the Way, on the first Thursday, 10 a.m. @ First Church and on Zoom), Hiking (Following the Way, second Thursday, locations TBD), Reading (Spirited Readers, third Thursday, 7 p.m. Zoom or First Church), and Walking (Walking the Way, fourth Thursday, 9 a.m., locations tbd). What is a Faith Circle? Faith Circles allow us to grow closer to God and to one another. Jesus longs for us to not just be part of the church, but to be passionate about the church, its people and its mission. Contact office@fcsuffield.org to sign up or learn more information on our Faith Circles.

Rev. Diann continues to offer Wednesday morning Bible Study at 10 a.m. each week via Zoom. The group will be studying Jesus and the Gospels, a Great Courses Offering. Contact Rev. Diann senior@ fcsuffield.org to join.

Our Blessing Box has been utilized quite often since its installment! Our Blessing Box is located right in front of First Church on High Street and is open to our neighbors and community members to “take what you need; leave what you can.” We encourage our community to donate what they can to the Blessing Box. Help us to keep the box stocked and support those in need.
First Church is excited to welcome our local support groups back to their “home” in our building for their meetings. We ask that anyone entering First Church wear a mask. We have various support groups through NA, FA & AA available at First Church. Contact us for the full list of meetings.

If you have further questions, please call the church office and leave a message. Our staff and Minister are ready to assist you or provide information as needed.
God bless and stay safe!
