Examples of local art adorned the wall at Phelps-Hatheway House.

The Suffield 350th Anniversary art exhibit Visions of Suffield has been on display in the visitors’ center at the Phelps-Hatheway House since May, featuring 36 works by 15 local artists. Reduced hours at the museum have kept some people from being able to enjoy the show. That will change soon. For the months of September and October, the Phelps-Hatheway House will be open from 1 p.m. till 4 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday. Visits to the art show and the gardens are free, and house tours are $12 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-18.

An artists’ reception will be held Sunday, September 19 from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Meet the artists, talk about their work, and enjoy hors-d’œuvres and drinks featuring products from local farms, wineries, and brewers. In addition to our artist guests of honor, we are very happy to have this opportunity to welcome Aaron Marcavitch, the Executive Director of Connecticut Landmarks, and his family to their new home in Suffield!

Tickets for the September 19th artists’ reception are $25. They are available for purchase at www.visions_of_suffield.eventbrite.com or email Suffield350@gmail.com.
