On the morning of October 12, 1970, principal speaker Walter Cronkite chats with Judge Howard W. Alcorn as Ray Tanguay directs the Suffield High School orchestra onstage in the high school auditorium. This was the culmination of the Suffield Tercentenary Celebration in 1970. Among those seated at stage front are, from the left, State Senator Charles T. Alfano, speaker Cronkite, anniversary chairman Alcorn, Governor John Dempsey, and First Selectman Daniel F. Sullivan. Long-time CBS News anchorman Cronkite was regarded as “The Most Trusted Man in America.”
