The Suffield Arts Council announces that the Pinney Gallery of the Kent Memorial Library in Suffield will be the site for the Tobacco Valley Artists Association (TVAA) Fall Member Show. The show opens November 2 and closes November 30. Due to COVID-19 regulations, there will be no reception.

The TVAA show will include more than fifty works in various media by some of the top artists in the area. Members compete for awards here, with first, second, and third place prizes awarded in five categories: watercolors, oils and acrylics, pastels, mixed media and “other”. In addition, there will be a Best in Show award and a People’s Choice award. The entries are judged by independent, accomplished artists.

TVAA is a group of more than 100 artists from northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts. Since its founding in 1965, the organization has strived to serve the needs of artists in the area, by offering opportunities for fellowship, education and exhibition of work. The group holds monthly meetings at the Agawam Senior Center on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

Each meeting features a demonstration of a new material or art technique by accomplished artists.

In addition, TVAA offers bus trips to museums, plein aire painting sessions, a painting club, a video library, two member shows per year, artist workshops and discounts at art supply shops. COVID-19 has resulted in meetings being postponed until further notice.

The show appears through the cooperation of the Tobacco Valley Artists Association, the Suffield Arts Council and the Kent Memorial Library staff.
