A two day 75% off winter clearance sale and a $10 fill-a-bag-with-clothes promotion netted the Second Chance shop over $1,100, according to co-president Ellen Peterson.

“And our gorgeous spring styles are now on our racks ready for our customers,” she noted.

The Second Chance Shop’s annual winter clearance sale typically starts at 50% off for a couple of weeks and increases to 75% for a short time. “We have limited storage space, so we need to clear the store,” said Peterson.

She stressed that all the profits go to The Village for Families and Children, a 213-year-old Hartford nonprofit. She likes to call the 83 volunteers who run the shop “hard working, unpaid saints.”

“We are so grateful for our loyal customers who look forward to our annual sale,” said Peterson. “Now we welcome them to browse our latest spring styles on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.”
