In 2012 Sarah Supino opened Suffield’s first Fitness Studio, Unique Fitness. For the past 10 years Sarah has built a strong following of members at her studio. She has even mentored fitness professionals in town who were able to move on and open their very own studios. Since she opened her studio, she has been joined by some great trainers and studios such as Suffield Fitness Factory, Body by Davith and most recently Total Body Fitness. Sarah has always prided herself as a community business owner and fitness professional. She has done this by partnering with in-town organizations such as the Suffield Parks and Rec department. Sarah offered a variety of programs such a Woman on Weights Class, Running Club, Barre and Weight Loss competition. When she isn’t teaching class, or personally training clients, she can be found coaching athletes at Suffield Academy as the Track and Field coach.

Sarah has always wanted to be able to offer her long-time loyal members additional ways to reach their fitness goals. On a business trip, her husband Chris Gallo, VP of Club Ready, a leader in Fitness software, visited a studio in California called XGT Fitness. XGT stands for Xperience Group Training. He came home and told Sarah that the studio’s concept was amazing, and they should bring it to Suffield. She agreed that it would be a great opportunity.

XGT Fitness’s premise is for all fitness levels, ages and genders. XGT works on setting members into four phases. Learn: where everyone starts. Burn: RIP body fat. This phase promotes fat loss and improves overall conditioning. Build: get stronger to live life longer. This is where you can increase muscle mass and tone. Active: Keep what you’ve worked for. This phase will keep your body strong, mobile, lean and conditioned.

Each class size is limited to twelve members. This allows the instructor to provide personalized attention to each member, making sure exercises are performed safely and correctly to achieve optimal results without injury. Membership options come in three packages and vary depending on the amount of time you take classes and whether you want to take advantage of the nutrition counseling offered in the unlimited option.

The studio opened May 9 at 138 Mountain Rd. Staff will include Michelle Chase as studio manager, and Sarah Supino, owner and head trainer. Instructors are Missy Mahar, Pam Pendelton, and Emma Casey. More info can be found at www.xgtfitness.com, where you can actually book a class online.
