6-12 School Counseling Programming Fall/Winter 2022
It’s been a great start to the 2022-2023 school year. Suffield High School and Middle School counselors shared the fall and winter calendar of counseling events with students and families in September. Our SHS and SMS counseling team are dedicated to meeting the needs of all students by delivering programming across all grade levels in the domains of college/career and social emotional.

Suffield High School and Middle School counselors kicked off the fall and winter calendar by welcoming new students to their building with the first year/new student orientation in August and the Step-Up Day Program for 6th grade in September.

Additionally, SHS and SMS counseling teams introduced The First Year Experience Program and advisory lessons highlighting the counseling process and the developmental curriculum students will receive throughout the year including social-emotional well-being and future planning.

SHS School counselors are offering a series of workshops to assist seniors with post-secondary planning and the college application process. Senior programming started on 9/26 and continues throughout the month of October.

In December SHS school counselors will be hosting a College Future Planning night via zoom to help support students and families with the post-secondary planning process. Some of the topics to be discussed include choosing a path and researching programs, introducing the application process and the Common Application, understanding financial aid, NCAA Clearinghouse, scholarship resources and career exploration resources.
